A Life of Love

I am in love with life,

both giving and receiving.

Accepting memories I have yearned for,

dreamed of,

desired,

wept about,

on long nights and cool mornings.

Have I gone so long without noticing?

I am in love with being in love,

the orange laughter,

the childish banter.

I am in love with the sheer warmth of forgiveness,

of past things I can’t change

and thoughts I have settled with.

I am in love with the bed I have made for myself,

the one I lay my head on.

Ever-changing in location,

never quite set in stone.

Now, here I can rest.
